We hear a lot about electric cars sharing the same platform. All that means is that they share the same bits underneath - stuff like batteries and motors, as well as actual chassis - a trick which manufacturers use to cut costs and offer as much choice as possible. Take these two, for example. They’re non-identical twins, both from the VW Group.
On one side is the Volkswagen ID.3 58kWh Pro Performance. It starts at £35,835, and comes with a 58kWh battery, has just under 250-miles of WLTP range and 201bhp of power.
On the other side is Cupra Born. And it starts at £34,715, so a little bit cheaper, and also comes with 58kWh battery, just under 250-miles of WLTP range and 201bhp of power.
But which is the better buy? Join Tom as he compares the two and crunches the numbers. Do you agree with Wookie? Which would be your choice from these two? Let us know in the comments below.
