To some critics, nothing can negate the fact that the Gospels themselves don't say who wrote them. They're not like the letters of Paul where he introduces himself.
What's unusual about this is that the Gospels purport to be histories. Greek historians like Herodotus and Thucydides declare themselves as the writers of their works in their prefaces. Christian apologists categorize Luke as a historian. But Luke famously includes an introduction but doesn't mention his name. So what's going on here?
