The government is preparing to take criminal action against YSRCP leader and former minister Perni Nani. A case has been registered over the loss of ration rice in a godown run by Nani. Rice worth about Rs. 90 lakhs was not accounted for in the godown rented by the state civil supplies department. The company's MD Manjeer Jilani has ordered a thorough investigation into this. Criminal action has been ordered against Nani in the case of the loss of rice. Nani will have to pay a fine of Rs. 1.80 crore and face criminal cases. The godown, which has a capacity of 40,000 metric tons, belonging to Nani in Machilipatnam was rented by the civil supplies department during the previous government and rice was stored in it. However, Perni Nani wrote a letter to the district joint collector Geetanjali Sharma last month, stating that the sudden movement of rice in his godown had caused depreciation, and that about 3,200 bags were worthless, and that they were ready to pay the amount. As a result, the officials conducted inspections on November 28 and 29 and found that 3,700 bags (185 tons) of rice had been lost. The officials wrote a letter to the Civil Supplies Corporation MD asking him to inform them what action should be taken in this regard. According to government estimates, the value of the missing rice is Rs. 89.72 lakhs at the rate of Rs. 48,500 per ton of rice, and the MD has issued orders to collect double the fine and register criminal cases. Apart from this, the officials revealed that the godown will be blacklisted.
