What’s the Best Time to Visit?
Late June to early August is peak bloom. Trust me, you don’t want to miss the sea of purple if you drive all the way!
What to Do?
Get to Valensole, soak in the views, and snap those pics. You can pick up some lovely lavender products as well from one of the stores.
Worth It?
Absolutely - IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA. I wouldn’t recommend you go out of the way and drive for hours. While it’s gorgeous, it doesn’t look like what you see on social media and I went to about 8-9 fields.
There are also a lot of 🐝 bees but they were mostly harmless. However, I was cautious the entire time. Getting stung on a vacation wouldn’t have been fun.
If you go to the most popular ones, all you are going to see is sea of people so don’t be afraid to branch out and find your own secret gem.
There are fields upon fields, get on the street named Route de Digne. I found a field with no one in sight and a beautiful backdrop!
Don’t stop at the first mainstream commercial spot. It’s going to be very anticlimactic.
p.s. go during the sunset hour for the best views.
