A brief but enjoyable session spent at Worcester Foregate Street where we see plenty of services from West Midlands Railway and Great Western Railway.
The station was opened in 1860 and was originally part of the Hereford and Worcester Railway which would become part of the West Midland Railway and then wind up as part of Great Western Railway.
By 1948 the station, track and assests all came under the control of British Railways.
Since 1973 the station has retained its rather unique layout where the two single track lines run parallel to one another rather than a two track Mainline.
The two single track lines run from Henwick which is on the other side of the River Severn and then run through Foregate Street and then through the former Rainbow Hill Junction. One track eventually pulls off towards Worcester Shrub Hill and the other towards Droitwich Spa.
My next station will be Hereford.
