Weather Index Insurance is an innovative risk management tool for small-scale farmers in developing countries. In Zambia, weather insurance has been implemented for over 72,000 farmers since 2013. Over 4 seasons, approximately USD 800,000 has been paid out in claims due to bad weather, particularly drought and dry spells. This video documents some of the lessons learnt from the product development and implementation, with a particular focus on the cotton sector in Zambia.
