Andy Powers was an independent luthier, local musician, and avid surfer, living and playing around Southern California, when Bob Taylor enlisted him as kind of a right-hand man—head luthier of Taylor Guitars.

But Powers—who in recent months has revamped some of the company’s signature lines—also is an accomplished fingerstyle guitarist. He stopped by the Acoustic Guitar Sessions studio to perform three songs, "Gwendolyn's Dream," "A Nod to Norm," and "Summertime."
