On the 10th of July, 1985, a Tupolev Tu-154 belonging to Aeroflot was carrying 200 people, over a quarter of which were children, on a flight from Karshi to Leningrad.
After the aircraft climbed to cruising altitude, it suddenly began to vibrate. But the pilots, who may have been asleep prior, mistook the source of the vibrations for an engine surge.
They then decided to reduce power to the engines, a decision that would prove fatal. What happened next?
