Some context:
I always struggle when I work on a film like this, not so much because it’s a technical challenge (well maybe a little; thanks Premiere Pro...), or because I have a habit of endlessly chasing (subjective) perfection, but because I not only want myself, but others to enjoy the end product as well.
I plan ahead to shoot a certain way or to go for specific shots, but when the trip is over and I come home and start editing, I'm forced to conclude that it is just a bunch of random shots and I have to throw out my initial plan altogether.
I keep endlessly rearranging sequences, only to later revert them back to their initial state.
I come up with new cool ideas and flesh them out, only to completely cut them in the end.
And by the time I hit 'export', I already regret not spending just a little more time on that tiny little detail that no one is ever going to notice.
I realize that I put tremendous amounts of time and effort into something that most people won’t even care to watch, maybe at most skip through, or aren't going to like at all. And I understand, why would you want to watch somebody else’s travel film of a trip you weren’t part of?
Honestly, I don’t know, maybe you shouldn’t waste your time watching this, there are countless other things to spend your valuable time on. But know that if you do decide to spend this hour and a half with us, we are grateful to have you with us and hope that by the time the credits roll it has been a worthwhile journey for you.
Because for us, it definitely has been.
Thank you for watching!
