The move by Pas to work with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the 15th General Election has not come as a surprise to Kelantan Umno.
State Umno Liaison committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub said the move had been expected by the party as well as grassroot party members in Kelantan.
In view of this, he said Kelantan Umno had initiated early steps as part of its preparations in the face of the development for the coming polls.
Jazlan who is also the state Barisan Nasional chairman, told this to reporters after attending the party's divisional meeting here last night.
He said Umno had expected such a move, with Pas picking PN rather than BN.
