New Star Wars director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, recently told CNN regarding her upcoming Rey movie that "It's about time that we had a woman come forward to shape a story in a galaxy far, far away." Why do Lucasfilm, and the wider film industry as a whole, still not understand that what makes a good character and/or story is not their gender or race and that there has been plenty of amazing, bad-ass characters that were women in the past?
