Developed in Sweden by Gunnar Johansson during the last years of World War 2, the M/45 submachinegun or "Swedish K", as it's often called in the United States, was formally adopted by the Swedish military in 1945. Despite much of it being manufactured using stamped sheet metal, the gun is extremely robust and reliable and operates simply as an open bolt full-auto only weapon. The 45/M saw significant use by U.S. Navy Seals and clandestine U.S. operators in southeast Asia during the Vietnam war. The United States, Indonesia, Egypt (Port Said variant) and Argentina manufactured the weapons with over 300,000 being made once production ceased in the 1970s. The gun was well liked by troops who fielded the firearm but it is no longer in front line service with any major military power. Nevertheless, the M/45 occasionally shows up in major and minor Asian & African conflicts from time to time. The gun is quite pleasant to shoot with modest recoil and a nice rate of fire. The particular variant shown here is the Egyptian Port Said which was made under license in Egypt and aside from the stamped receiver markings is virtually identical to the Swedish version.
