Video Description
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra running One UI 4 with Android 12 and in today's video I'll be showing you how to gain root access to the device. Now, I have already done a video showing how to root the smartphone but it has since been updated to Android 12 and right now that means there's a new method involved.
But before we begin, there are some things we need to have set up ahead of time.
#SamsungGalaxy #GalaxyS21 #GalaxyS21Ultra #Magisk #Android12
For example, we need to have the bootloader of the smartphone unlocked first. This is something else I've already created a video about, and I'll be linking to it in the video description below for anyone who has yet to complete that step.
Then, we're going to need to download and install the canary build of Magisk. It needs to be the canary build as of recording this video since it's the only version that supports Android 12 right now.
With that done, we then need to download and extract the firmware that matches what you're running on your device right now. Over the weekend I tried a couple of firmware download tools like Frija and SamFirm reborn but neither were able to download the latest version for my device and my region (TPA/Panama)
So instead, I had to download the firmware from this website samfw.com
I've done a video about this website in the past too, so I'll include that link in the video description as well.
So once the firmware has been downloaded, go ahead and extract the contents of the compressed file. What we're looking for is the AP file here, and we'll need to copy that to the Galaxy S21 Ultra so it can be patched with Magisk.
With Magisk opened, let the app update itself and then reboot the Samsung Galaxy S21 to complete the installation of the root files.
Now you can even go as far as to install a root checker application (like I do in the video) in order to perform an initial verification Magisk.
