In this video, we’ll look at how Crime genre films critique the criminal justice system in a deeper sense. In particular, you’ll discover a three-point model for understanding many of the social problems presented in popular Crime genre films. These include the Criminal, the Victim and the Avenger.
Interestingly, in crime genre, the hero must struggle as though he were the bad guy because he represents truth and justice. It doesn’t always pay to be good.
By watching Crime genre films, we can imagine ourselves in the role of the victim. But also, we can imagine ourselves in the role of the hero or the role of the villain.
