The difference between being busy and being productive.
Being busy involves frantic work while being productive is more focused. Being busy prioritizes the short-term while productivity is about long-term priorities. Being busy is about working harder while being productive is about working smarter. When you’re busy, you’re fueled by perfectionism. But when you’re productive, you’re fueled by purpose. Being busy means being good at everything while being productive is about being great at a few things. Busy-ness is about multi-tasking and shallow work while being productive is about sticking to a single task and engaging in deep work. Busy is rushed while productive is relaxed.
You can’t always avoid being busy. Life happens. Sometimes the urgent crowds out the important. But when we focus on the things that matter, we are more likely to be productive rather than busy.
