Here are the ten weirdest sea creatures you'll find in the enormous new marine protected area around Chile's Desventuradas Islands. They're just a few of the species that will benefit from the protected zone.
National Geographic's Pristine Seas project, led by marine ecologist and Explorer-in-Residence Enric Sala, has been directly involved with the efforts to conserve the Desventuradas Islands and is credited with Chile's decision to create the marine protected area, which will span 300,000 square kilometers (115,831 square miles).
