Subterranean Animism is the 11th main-series Touhou Installment of the franchise.
Taking place underground, the entirety of Touhou 11 is pretty "gimmick-y". For starters, Reimu's three shot types have some form of gimmick to them, whether it's being able to teleport from the left to the right side of the screen and vise-verse, or letting go of every button on the keyboard for a sec to obtain all items on the screen (similar to a POC), or being able to dash blindingly fast if you're not shooting or focusing. Marisa also has a few gimmicks, though Marisa's shot-types have a gimmick in how they shoot, rather than neato little quirks that Reimu has. Marisa A does the most damage unfocused, while having the most range focused, and Marisa C has a shield bomb that you can pop and still cap.
Marisa B, however, is my favorite shot-type. She's the equivalent of five shot-spreads in one. To alternate between her Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Metal shot-types (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Orange/Brown), you have to awkwardly hit the shift and attack button simultaneously, which is why you see me doing this at times in the run. Her Fire shot-spread is a simple, straight-forward shot, while her Water shot-spread is a more spread-out forward shooting shot. Her Earth, Wind, and Metal shot-types see little use in a traditional run, though I found ways to make use of them. The Earth shot-spread has very high damage when shot-gunning, and is much safer than the Metal shot-spread, which is more of a backwards shot, since you don't have to awkwardly run behind the bosses then run around them, which hurts when the bosses want to hug you to death. The Wind shot-spread shoots in front and behind Marisa, to the sides.
Honestly, a Normal 1cc isn't anything special, since I can do Hard 1cc's and it isn't a Normal No Bomb or Normal No Miss No Bomb, but it's a nice starting point for many people, allowing this video to be a sort-of guide. It also shows a lot of Marisa B's potential, since Stage 2 is absolutely melted, midboss included, and you can play ring-around-the-rosie with Parsee and still "cap"[ture the spellcard]. Marisa B also has such good shot-gunning potential, and if you don't particularly like a certain spell, just swap over to Metal shot and deathbomb the card, staying on top of the boss. I do it a few times, and their HP just goes away.
Another point to note, some spells are trivialized with Marisa B. By bombing where the midboss of Stage 6 is (it doesn't have to be exact, as you may see), you can completely skip the midboss, which admittedly can be extremely blinding in the dark. The only other shot-type that can do this is Reimu C. Worth noting, the only other place this can occur is the midboss of the Extra Stage, completely skipping Sanae altogether, though the stage doesn't wait a while like it does on Stage 6. Another example of a trivialized spell is the Stage 5 second spell, where the Wind shot-type excels. By destroying the spirits that spawn, you lessen some streams of bullets, as well as lessen the explosion meant to happen. When all spirits are destroyed, there is no explosion, which allows for an overall easy time. I do believe this is doable on all difficulties, though the speed of the bullets spawned will definitely be harder so there's that.
Sorry for poor quality.
