"1. According to J&K police, a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist was killed in a gunfight with Indian security forces in Kupwara district today. The police said that the hiding militants, lobbed hand grenades at the police, following which a gunfight ensued, leading to the militant’s killing.
2. China today praised Pakistan for “remaining calm and exercising restraint” at a time when tensions were high with its neighbouring country India. These statements came at a time when there has been a rise in global pressure on Pakistan to act against terrorist groups within the country, since the February 14 suicide bomb attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
3. The Supreme Court will on Friday pronounce its verdict on whether to send the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case in Ayodhya for mediation as a “permanent solution. A Constitution bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justices SA Bobde, Ashok Bhushan, Abdul Nazeer and DY Chandrachud had said on Wednesday that it was aware of the gravity of the matter and the outcome of mediation on the body politic of the country.
4. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested the person who threw a grenade at a bus station in Jammu today. According to news report One person succumbed to his injuries and at least 30 people are undergoing treatment for their injuries.
5. Lawyer Prashant Bhushan told the Supreme Court that he had made a “genuine mistake” by tweeting the Centre had placed fabricated documents in court about the appointment of M Nageswara Rao as an interim chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation
