Half the people are on the cutting edge of technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain and even Quantum Computing, while the other half of the world doesn’t have basic internet access. Ishita Shukla is a 16-year-old who is immersed in STEM, she discovers the harsh truth of the digital divide during the COVID-19 pandemic.
She explores the various causes of this growing digital divide, even in a technological hub like Singapore. Through the talk, practical solutions of bridging the digital divide have been unveiled not only on an individual scale but on a national scale too. Majority of the times people think global problems should be handled by higher authorities only, but Ishita has proven that secondary school students in Singapore have the potential to bridge this digital divide that has grown over the COVID-19 pandemic.
