The Springfield (J. Stevens / Savage) Model 15 single shot rifle 22 caliber rifle is a fine example of starter guns for children. It was made in the late 1930s through the 1940s. It's simple design and strong construction made it an ideal first rifle for a lot of kids. I'm a big fan of these little rifles.
