On Oct. 28, we celebrated renowned PNW artist James Lee Hansen with a ribbon cutting commemorating the public art installation of 34 five-foot-tall panels he designed 60 years ago. The artistic panels, once the façade of Clark County Title Company building in 1962, are now permanently displayed at the Esther Street railroad underpass between our historic downtown and the Vancouver Waterfront.
James Lee Hansen, 97, has created over 700 works of art during his long career, including several architectural commissions. His sculptures are part of the permanent collections of several art museums in the region.
