Today we’re tasting vintage amari! Amari is plural for amaro, which is Italian for “bitter”, so these are Italian bitter liqueurs. I recently got my hands on some vintage amari from the 1960’s and 70’s, so I thought Az and I could do a tasting on the channel! In some cases, like the Ramazzotti and Fernet Branca, we’ll compare the older bottles to current ones. The Gambarotta, on the other hand, hasn’t been available for the last 40 years, so I have no idea what to expect. I’m always excited to try something new, and curious to see what those years do to the overall flavor profiles. Let’s see what’s inside these dusty old bottles!
For more on the topic, I recommend the book
AMARO, by Brad Thomas Parsons.
