On December 13, 1986, the Hindi film industry suffered a shattering blow, when one of its most promising actors, Smita Patil, breathed her last. She died young, but even at the age of 31, she could boast of a solid body of work, more than what many actors can achieve in their entire lifetime. In 1982, Smita played the 'other woman' in Mahesh Bhatt's award-winning film, Arth. How strange is it, that around the same time, her real life mirrored her reel life.
