Pakistan: Police Attack Baloch Activists Protesting Over Abductions & Disappearances
Pakistan forces attacked peaceful protests in Balochistan's Quetta. Activists alleged that the police used heavy firing and teargas to disperse the protesters, demonstrating against the disappearance of Zaheer Ahmed Baloch, allegedly abducted by Pakistan security forces on June 27. Baloch’s family has been protesting for the last 10 days and was attacked by the security forces as the protests entered day 11. The Pakistan police baton charged at protesters, including women and children. Protesters claimed that the police tortured and arrested people protesting peacefully. Pak Army faces accusations of causing forced disappearances in Balochistan. The residents allege that Baloch community members face custodial torture in the name of fighting "terrorism and insurgency".
