STORYLINE:
British Prime Minister Tony Blair met Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri on Monday.
Hariri plans to discuss prospects for peace in the Middle East and bilateral trade with Blair.
During his three-day official visit, Hariri is scheduled to meet with lawmakers, business leaders and Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey.
His invitation followed visits by other moderate leaders from the region, including Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Hariri, accompanied by Finance Minister Fuad Saniora and Foreign Minister Mahmoud Hammoud, also plans to meet with British business executives in an attempt to invite investment in Lebanon.
Lebanon and Britain have signed an air transport agreement as well as an accord to promote and protect investment in both countries.
Last year British exports to Lebanon were worth 181.4 million pounds (261 million US dollars). Lebanese exports to Britain were worth 16 million pounds (23 million US dollars).
The Lebanese delegation is due to leave Britain on Wednesday.
