There's nothing better than homemade country fried steak on the flat top grill, made from scratch with high-quality ribeye steaks! It's one of my favorite Southern comfort foods to make on the Camp Chef griddle. But I decided to do a little test this time to see which breading was the best for country fried steak. In this video, I show you how to make the best Country Fried Steak on the flat top grill with three different breadings. Watch to see which is better: flour, panko, or breadcrumbs breading!
It doesn't matter if you call it Country Fried Steak or Chicken Fried Steak... and it doesn't matter if you have a Camp Chef or a Blackstone... this Southern fried dinner on the flat top is delicious!
00:00 intro
01:10 First, see how to cut and pound out your steaks for country fried steak with my favorite meat mallet. Of course, if you don't have ribeyes you can also use sirloin steaks or cube steak, which is more traditional. Then watch as I season my steaks before breading them.
04:00 Then, see how to set up your breading station and in what order to bread your steaks for the best country fried steak. Flour, egg wash, and then your final breading choice.
06:46 Time to get your steaks on the flat top grill and shallow fry them to a perfect golden brown! Don't forget to season with your favorite seasoning at the end while your crust is still hot with leftover oil. I just used a mix of salt, pepper, and garlic powder (equal parts).
12:00 Top your chicken fried steaks with some country gravy... I just used a package mix, but the secret is to mix in some beef bouillon for extra beef flavor and use milk instead of water to mix it.
So which breading is the best for homemade country fried steak? Flour, panko, or breadcrumbs? Watch here to find out!
