In a news conference at the Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announces the first ever coordination agreement of its kind to transfer jurisdiction over child welfare services from the province of Saskatchewan to the Cowessess First Nation. As part of the agreement, the federal government will invest $38.7 million over the next two years to support the First Nation in implementing their own child and family services system. The prime minister is joined by Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and Cowessess First Nation Chief Cadmus Delorme.
