(3 Dec 2019) All three of the main candidates in the forthcoming UK general election were out on the campaign trail on Tuesday, with NATO and the country's National Health Service (NHS) on the agenda.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson went on a walkabout to meet voters at a Christmas market in Salisbury in southwest England.
Earlier on Tuesday, Johnson praised NATO, saying it was "one of the most successful alliances in military history".
Meanwhile in London, UK Labour opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn said he would tell US President Donald Trump he doesn't want US companies running the UK's National Health Service (NHS) if they met during the NATO reception.
Corbyn declined to defend the provenance of Labour's leaked documents on US-UK trade talks after parallels were drawn with the disclosure and a Russian misinformation campaign.
Asked where they came from after it was suggested they may have made it to Reddit via Russian hackers, the Labour leader said that was nonsense.
Meanwhile, the UK's Liberal Democrat leader Jo Swinson was campaigning in Chelmsford where she criticised US President Donald Trump for his attitude towards women and minorities.
She added: "This is not someone who shares our values, not someone we should be rolling out the red carpet for" but you "engage with and work with people around the world who you agree with and those who you disagree with too."
Swinson has previously said US President Donald Trump's claim that America is not interested in the NHS in a future trade deal could not be trusted.
British voters go to the polls on December 12 to choose their next prime minister.
