Coral Reefs are one of the most bio diverse ecosystems on the planet. The number of species on a reef is on par with (and sometimes even more than) the number of species found in a tropical forest and other systems. Their bio mass is also very high due to the amount of fish that they shelter, and the amount of algae growing on a reef. They also protect the coastline from waves.
However, coral reefs are being degraded at an alarming rate due to climate change, fishing activities and pollution. Measures must be put in place to reduce the amount of stress that the coral reefs are subjected to.
At the Kenyan Coast, the Kenya Wildlife Service must find a way to work with the community in their efforts to conserve the reefs, so everyone can benefit.
