Watch in HQ PLEASE. And like it! ;)
I spent sooo much time on this and it suuuucks!! I'm really really REALLY not satisfied AT ALL. I upload it because I don't like to feel as if I wasted my time. =(
It was way better in my head. I don't know what happened, but I just couldn't find how to make it. Anyway, here it is.
There is no plot, just some scenes of Merlin related to the real arthurian legend. I love legends like this and I'm always excited when I see those scenes.
At first there is the presentation of the most important characters :
- Morgause : Often mingled with Morgana, her sister. In the legend she is supposed to be the Arthur's sister and the mother of Mordred, instead of Morgana. She has no magic.
- Uther : Not very important too, but he's still Arthur's father, and that's not insignificant. He has no real role in the legend actually.
- Gwaine : One of the most known knights of the Round Table! Very brave and strong but also very seducer... The expert in damsels in distress. In the legend he is Morgause's son too. Death : killed by Lancelot =S
- Lancelot : He was "kidnapped" as a kid by the lady of the lake, she educated him, then he became the best knight of the Round Table. And he was deeply in love with Guinevere, and he had a lot of troubles because of that...
- Guinevere: The queen of Camelot. She is a princess in the legend, not a maid. She fell in love with Lancelot, but he left after their relation was discovered so she stayed with Arthur. In some stories, after Arthur's death she became Mordred's queen, in the principal legend she get in a nunnery and died there.
- Morgana : Arthur's half-sister. In the first stories, she was a good fairy, and then she became the ennemy of Arthur and Guinevere (that she hates a lot). She learned magic with Merlin, like Viviane (the lady of the lake), her sister. She has a lot of sisters
- Merlin : Much older in the legend than in the TVshow of course. Counselor of Uther (like Gaius), he helped Arthur to became the great king of Camelot. He's a druid, and he can see the future.
- Arthur : Well, Arthur. The king which unified the brittany people, and started the quest of the Grail (that he never found by the way).
Then, just a few remarks :
- Camelot was the court of Arthur and Guinevere, somewhere in Brittain...
- Nimueh is a "villain" version of the lady of the lake. Briefly, she just wants to rule the world with Merlin.
- I was SURE that Merlin was REALLY a dragonlord, but I can't find anything about it to validate my assumption... Well, at least, there was dragons under the castle of Uther and Merlin permitted their death.
The fact is that from 1:20 to 1:55, it's not really the legend... I'm gonna be honest, I needed clips to fullfill the music.
Igraine is Morgause and Morgana's mother, and Arthur is her illegitimate son, by the way. And she didn't die while giving birth to him.
But then, when the music becomes freakin epic, that's THE legend.
- The Round Table, the kignts... I didn't mention Percival before. He is the one who get the closest to the grail.
- The "love triangle", Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot, even if I'm not sure there was ever love between Arthur and Guinevere in the legend. But when he discovered that she was unfaithful, he was angry for sure. From this moment, the unity of the knights was broken, they all killed each other and all was over.
- Merlin and the lady of the lake, Vivian (not Freya!) were in love, he learned magic to her. She used a spell to locked Merlin in a tower forever, that's often the reason of his death.
- Two legends for Excalibur : The lady of the lake gave it to Arthur, or Merlin made Arthur pulled it from a stone.
- And MORDRED : Arthur and Morgause's son, raised in the hathred of his father. He became a knight for a while but he was not a good guy as you can guess... At the battle of Camlann, Arthur and Mordred killed each other. They were both mortally wounded, Mordred died in his mother's arms (so he didn't become King in that version) and Arthur on Avalon, where he was brought by Morgana. Weird I know. But it was her home, and in some stories she was a lovely fairy, remember.
(The scene when Mordred tell his name to Arthur is one of my favorites. I knew of course that this little boy was Mordred, but when he said it, it was SO EPIC. "The beginning of the end"!)
And finally, when Arthur died, Excalibur was thrown into a magic lake forever...
WELL. I'm sorry if everything isn't clear. There is no "if" actually, it's not clear, and I'm sorry. If you want to understand, go on wikipedia ;)
Music : Holy - Immediate music
