Philip Johnson was an American architect known for his contributions to the International Style of architecture and his leadership in the postmodern architecture movement. Born in 1906, Johnson studied philosophy before becoming an architect and worked with other renowned architects such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Some of his most famous works include the Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut and the AT&T Building (now the Sony Tower) in New York City. Johnson was also a writer and critic, and his influence on modern architecture can still be seen today. He passed away in 2005 at the age of 98.
