Police Commissioner Andrew Coster said he expected the towing of unlawfully parked vehicles near Parliament would start on Wednesday.
Protesters whose vehicles were towed away wouldn't be getting them back "anytime soon", Coster said.
Police were working with a small number of towing firms, and had appealed for more to be involved, Coster said. Police were also talking to NZDF, which did not have a big towing capability, but did have some.
