Member of Parliament and leader of Congress in Lok Sabha commented on the ongoing crisis in Karnataka. Referring to the case of senior party leader DK Shivakumar being denied the opportunity to meet rebel MLAs camping in a hotel in Mumbai, Chowdhury asked if the Bharatiya Janata Party had imposed 'martial law' in the state. He also accused the BJP of attacking the 'democratic edifice' by luring or intimidating MLAs. Over a dozen MLAs from the ruling Congress-Janata Dal (Secular) combine have resigned so far, but the Speaker of the Assembly is yet to take a call on them.
