The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has requested the chief minister of Jharkhand as part of a money laundering inquiry centered on an illegal mining case. Previously, the ED had filed a charge sheet against Pankaj Mishra, who is close to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, before a special Ranchi court under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in connection with illicit mining and extortion in Jharkhand and Bihar. Pankaj Mishra, CM's close aide, is suspected of owning illicit mines in Jharkhand, according to the ED. Pankaj Mishra was also charged by the ED. In the same matter, the ED has summoned Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. CM has called for a meeting with the JMM, Congress and RJD members as well to discuss the matter.
