These are audio clips on the People Power Revolution of 1986 in the Philippines. I am uploading them to YouTube to be preserved. Educators, students, researchers or anyone interested in the extraordinary events on those days may find these records useful corroborative materials for data from other sources. I have tried to be as faithful as possible to chronology, beginning from the evening of February 22 Saturday when Ramos and Enrile declared their renunciation of allegiance to the administration to the evening of February 25 when Marcos finally left. There might be some reordering of the clips dated February 24 when events happened so fast I might have misnumbered the tapes. Nevertheless the authenticity of the records is assured. They are presented here just as they were recorded at the time. As a fitting cap, the clips on February 26 are included.
International radio stations whose broadcasts were recorded include Voice of America, BBC World Service, Radio Australia, Radio Japan, and Radio Moscow. Local stations are DZRC, DZGB, and DWZR in Legazpi City; Radio Veritas, FEBC, and DZRH in Metro Manila. Two rebel radio stations were set up during the revolution, Radio Filipino and Radio Broadcast. Their transmissions were relayed by the local stations.
I credit Messrs. Ariel Ayque, Larry Brocales, Raffi Banzuela, Tony Llarena; Ms. Jocel Chua and Sister Annie Abion for much of the contents of these clips. If I fail to give credit to any other person or entity I ask for pardon. I do not intend to violate intellectual property rights and invoke fair use. My purpose for uploading these is solely to convey them to posterity.
