My bowfin (Amia calva) in a 90 gallon that needs some cleaning. Beautiful patterns on her, she has a way to grow. They’re called bowfin for their undulating fins, but have many common names, such as grinnel, choupique, and dogfish.
These bad boys have stood the test of time and have been around for millions of years. Amia calva are the last known species of its kind alive today next to gars and other primitive fish.
