Mark Cuban once tried to tell the Lakers to cut Kobe - But his advice Instantly backfired.
Back in 2013, Kobe Bryant was still the best shooting guard in the league
But he was 34 yr old and his $84M contract was Killing the Lakers future.
So Mark Cuban proposed the “amnesty clause” to the press as a potential solution.
Which basically means you cut a player and if another team signs him your franchise is only responsible for the difference in contract amounts.
Given how deep in the luxury tax the Lakers were, the idea wasn’t that far fetched.
Plus Kobe WAS getting older.
But there was just one small detail:
The Lakers played the Mavs two days after Cuban’s comments.
And Kobe takes everything personal.
