To protest against the Sahitya Akademi's silence over the growing intolerance in the country, writers and poets are holding a silent protest march towards the Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi. Several Akademi awardees and members have returned their felicitations and resigned from the Aklademi over this issue. Meanwhile, the Akademi has called for a meeting with the dissenting writers who have returned their awards.
