I take you through the McCook Field neighborhood. This area is going through some major changes.
Interstate 75 is paving through the neighborhood due to the widen of the expressway around the infamous "Malfunction Junction".
And on this tour, we'll find some of Dayton's gems.
Parkside Homes and Love Boutique (aka McCook Theater) are some of the "latest" attractions in this town.
Parkside Homes are low-income townhouses that were plagued by prostitution, drugs and gun violence. China Arnold, the single mom who is accused of placing her daughter in the microwave, lived over in these townhomes. Soon the wrecking ball will come down on these homes and Dayton will team up with Bear Creek Capital to build a retail and entertainment complex.
That leaves Dayton's oldest adult themed complex. The Love Boutique is a controversial building. Many community leaders urged Dayton leaders to shut this business down, to no avail. The Love Boutique is a popular spot for "johns" and kinky couples to find their pleasures. The business has been there for many years and has no plans on leaving anytime soon.
Still on our tour we'll see fast food restaurants, sleezy motels, and abandon buildings. When they start working on the Interstate 75 project, soon change is a coming!

FAQ- The reason why I call this A Tour of Poor Dayton is because of the area's declining population, people losing jobs, boarded homes, businesses closing and economic turmoil in Montgomery, Miami and Greene Counties. And mostly Ohio in general. I am giving those who have never been to Dayton a chance to understand the plight of manufacturing communities.
So that will put to rest any questions of why I titled the videos!
