Cartagena was Spains most important city in the New World. It housed vast amounts of silver and gold to be shipped to Spain. This made it an obvious target for pirates. Sir Francis Drake, Henry Morgan, and Sir John Hawkins were among the most famous Pirates of the Caribbean to attack Cartagena and attempt to get past the Walls Of Cartagena.
