Have you ever wondered “what’s a yoga retreat like” or “how do yoga retreats work”? I’m sure if you have scrolled through Instagram, you have seen many fitness influencers on wellness retreats or meditation retreats. On these trips, they most often participate in activities centered around wellness. Yoga retreats work in pretty much the same way. I went on a yoga retreat in Nicaragua and created this travel vlog to give you guys an inside look at what we did and the amazing experiences I had! This jungle yoga retreat incorporated a few of my absolute favorite things: travel, meditation and yoga.
Nicaragua was a great place to try my first yoga retreat. I would recommend doing a yoga retreat at some point in your lifetime, specifically a tropical yoga retreat (WARM / SALTY AIR, ANYONE?). On this retreat, we focused on several different types of yoga and different types of flows/techniques, like Bhakti yoga, deep stretching yoga, Kundalini yoga, sun salutations, vinyasa flows and core power yoga.
The yoga treat schedule included morning yoga (sunrise yoga) aka wake up yoga, 2 vegan breakfasts, stretching and more.

Overall, it was nice to be able to detox from social media and really zen out. I am a yoga girl through and through. Yoga is a practice you can do anywhere in the world, which is the beauty of doing yoga at home. So if you are looking for a good at home workout, look no further! Find a yoga teacher you can trust (or find an online yoga class you connect with), just put on some yoga music / meditation music and do your own flow -- just get started!
What I took home from the retreat was how great I felt after practicing yoga daily. I now make sure to do weekly 10 min yoga, 15 min yoga, 20 min yoga practices, or even 30 minute yoga and 60 minute yoga. After the retreat, I felt my flexibility had improved, that I could be my own health coach, that my body was learning to love a good yoga flow / full yoga practice, and that my overall self confidence was higher. I also felt more grounded, relaxed, and connected to nature. As you can see, I highly suggest trying out a yoga retreat for yourself!
