Someone has stolen diamonds from an actress named Joanna Burton! It's not until the end of the book when it's revealed the culprit is copying one of Joanna's mystery movies, by hiding the diamonds inside an ice cube tray.

Bess gets a job as a chef and wonders if she should move out of town to be with her protective boyfriend Ted. Nancy and George investigate everyone who had access to the diamonds, and the story changes into a murder mystery when Joanna is killed at her home. Most of the suspects were in the area, at the time.

There is a strange moment at the end, when the culprit knocks Nancy unconscious, then swims three miles into the ocean to leave her unconscious body on a rock. When the tide comes in, the water wakes Nancy up. She swims with the waves back to shore.

I give this book a 7 out of 10.
