Seed is sensitive to pests, diseases and other stress conditions. Seed coatings are used to protect the seedling and support its growth. KWS is increasingly focusing also on biological coatings made from microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria and other substances of natural origin. "These so-called Biologicals are a useful complement to synthetic seed coatings and make an important contribution to reduce fertilizer and crop protection", explains Nora Temme, Lead Biologicals at KWS.
