Extracts from Adam's Diary by Mark Twain is an excellent work to show the use of voice, and satire, much like all Mark Twain's writing. He's a classic old chestnut for a reason, folks.
We read Eve's Diary a while back, and contrasting the two works is an excellent exercise. Part of that is noting the historical context of both. While Eve's Diary was written after his wife's death, perhaps in tribute to her in some part, Adam's Diary was written as a tribute to... Niagara Falls? Yes, really.
