We rode the Caledonian Sleeper from Inverness to Crew and this was our experience. We booked the Club Twin bunk bed room and we were moved into the Caledonian double bed room after an issue. The Caledonian Sleeper is a luxury British overnight train that takes you from Scotland to England and back. Is it worth it? Judging by our experience and the reviews of other passengers, I struggle to justify the price. This was our first time trying this first class British sleeper train and our experience could have been better.
Being one of the few UK sleeper trains, The Caledonian Sleeper offers a memorable experience of luxury. The bunk bed sleeper rooms and double compartment, double bed rooms include a shower and a toilet. There is a Club Car with a restaurant on board. This sleeper train also offers overnight seats, which are the cheapest way to travel on the Caledonian Sleeper. I am surprised at the number of extremely positive reviews on YouTube, given that the reviews on other sites are extremely mixed. The Caledonian Sleeper does have the potential to be amazing but our experience was extremely mixed. When compared to other unique, British first class trains, the Caledonian Sleeper can definitely be better. If you want to travel overnight on the Caledonian Sleeper train, I recommend booking the trip up to Scotland rather than to England as you can wake up to the incredible views of the Scottish Highlands.
