I composed this piece right around the same time that I wrote "Phantasmagorical Dance". I was in high school at the time and my music teacher submitted my name along with "Horizon Bound" to our local news network in the hopes that I would be selected for their "Artist of the Week" segment. We were surprised and delighted to learn that I got "Artist of the Year".
The network brought me into their studio, recorded me (poorly) playing this piece, and interviewed me. I was very nervous because that was the first time I was going to be on television. Thankfully, their editing team made my performance look better than it actually was.
I don't have any specific imagery to accompany this piece. At the time, I was feeling heavily inspired by Alan Menken's work in Disney animations as well as a fun piece I had just sung with my community choir called "I'm Gonna Rise When the Sun Comes Down". As a result, I think influences from both can be heard in this piece. I hope you enjoy!
