The Imperial Red guard were hand selected for their loyalty to the empire and their skills in combat. They would then be trained on the harsh world of yinchor where they learned a martial art that would turn their bodies into a living weapon, their reflexes becoming so fast they could sometimes block blaster bolts with their melee weapons. They would fight often to the death with their classmates with only the strongest progressing to the next level. Vader would then visit, brutally killing one of the trainee guards to show the dominance of the Sith and to inspire the others to train harder. After only two remained, they would be brought to Palpatine. They were then forced to fight to the death one last time to show their loyalty to the emperor. The remaining trainee would then ascend to the rank of Imperial guard.
