Paris, France, 1 July 2021 – This session had 3 main objectives:
1) Spotlight good practices to operationalize the “Leave No one Behind” (LNOB) principles through the effective inclusion and empowerment of women and girls with disabilities, sharing perspectives from Government, civil society and international organizations, including the United Nations;
2) Highlight the compounded impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and girls with disabilities across two regions: Asia Pacific and Eastern and Southern Africa;
3) Share key solutions and recommendations on how to best integrate an LNOB approach, while also focusing on disability and inclusion across the six thematic areas of the Action Coalitions and the Compact for Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action.
Overall, the event highlighted the actions that are necessary to ensure transformative change in the lives of women and girls with disabilities as the world builds back better from COVID-19.
