Bootstrapping, is when an entrepreneur starts a business with their own resources instead of using loans or other outside investments. Bootstrapping is seen as working hard, but in a more business minded way it allows the entrepreneur the freedom of control. Without the obligation to pay creditors back and with no investors to discuss decisions with, a business started through bootstrapping has the autonomy to do what they feel is right for the business. The downside to bootstrapping is the financial risk the entrepreneur takes on without outside investment. If this seems like the best option for you, make sure you’re able to produce results or you may end up having to file for bankruptcy and closing the business.
