Kanye West was the musical guest for Saturday Night Live's premiere over the weekend, and if you didn’t see it… you must. The opening scene poked fun at the ludicrous Kavanaugh and Dr. Ford hearings with Matt Damon playing Kavanaugh….
I will say, I love weird. And this was weird. Kanye West performed "I Love It" with Lil Pump and Adele Givens on Saturday Night Live. This was his first performance of 3. West donned a giant sparkling water costume while Pump was dressed as a giant... regular water bottle. Somehow this was weirder than the music video. They tried to censor the lyrics as best they could, but it was hard…
For Kanye’s second performance of the night, He shared the stage with the beautiful Teyana Taylor where the two performed "We Got Love" which was rather uplifting. I have no clue if this song was originally supposed to be on Taylor's album earlier this year, or if it will appear on Kanye’s Yandhi album which he said was going to be released on Saturday night. …Then it wasn’t.
His 3rd and most solid performance of the evening was of the song Ghost Town with Kid Cudi.
But it was his speech after his performance, when the cameras were no longer rolling, but that Chris Rock caught on his phone (endlessly giggling, by the way) that will probably over shadow the whole night. He was wearing his infamous MAGA hat and talking about how we should follow our hearts and not our minds…
Whoaaaaaaa. That’s so deep. First of all, YES. Let’s reach across the aisle and the dinner table and lead civil discourse with love. But also, be educated. Be a critical thinker. Sunday he tweeted a pic of his head wearing a MAGA hat while inside a private jet, and he wrote in the tweet: QUOTE “This represents good and America becoming whole again.” Followed by minimally researched statements about creating jobs in factories and abolishing the 13th Amendment (…the one that ENDED slavery), and he concluded with the statement QUOTE “message sent with love.” To which Chris Evans replied, QUOTE “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue. The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.” Lana Del Rey went even FARTHER, saying QUOTE "Trump becoming our president was a loss for the country but your support of him is a loss for the culture… I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism… If you think it’s alright to support someone who believes it’s OK to grab a woman by the p***y just because he’s famous, then you need an intervention as much as he does…. Message sent with concern that will never be addressed.”
So that got heated real quick. What did you think of Kanye’s SNL performances? And do you support what he tweeted and his reasoning behind his MAGA hat or should Kanye and 99% of America get their thoughts straight and their research done before espousing their conjecture to the public? Let me know below, or if you really wanna get into it, hit me up right now on Twitter @Miriamisa and on IG @Miriam_isa cuz I wanna hear from you. Then click here for another new video!
